Should I care about singular or plural for naming an excel file?

In office, there are many chances that we need to give aname of our file. For example, if I am going to name my excel file such as “employeepersonal data” or “Monthly Headcount Report”.Should I care about singular or plural for the noun.

Like to name it as “employees personal data” or “employees’personal data”? And “Monthly Headcounts  Report”?

On top of the above question, I would like to add on one more example I experienced. One sentence I recently wrote as "For the expats, the marriage leave is based on the home country policy.".  Here I am also struggling to make the sentence as "The marriage leave is based on the home country policy." or "The marriage leaves are based on the home country policy. "? Asking English experts' help.

I'm not an expert but I want to share my opinion. When it comes to general concept, singular form is usually adequate.

Grocery store
Bicycle rental
Mouse Trap
Vegetable basket
Student Library
Open door policy
Weekly visitor count
International High School Handicap Basketball Game

When we are naming a funtion, or specifying the title based on the purpose of an object or event, we usually use singular form, because singular forms represent 'total' or 'every', while plural forms indicate multiple similar objects happening at once.

You are absolutely right. I didn't notice that I do see many signs in many places around my daily life. Those signs usually don't use plural to describe it or put an article ahead.

thank you. I got that as a standard answer, too. I was even overthinking if singular form is the right answer, then the article should be included in the name of the file or not....

Thank you. You're probably right. One my dutch colleague is from Project background. She knows all the details about formal English in projects. That makes me want to be like her. I don't want to make poor English in my work to make them think "it's okay, Taiwanese English is normally not that good".   ...

A file name is a file name,but you can still learn a lot from it.

Doing whatever you want does not help your English, even from just a file name.

It is obvious that Ray was asking about the grammar, not asking anyone to comment on how to name a file.  (Of course he knows that you can name it whatever. But he does not want to do that, he wants to understand more about it, so he asked his questions. )

And yes, this is a forum for English learning....
